Condensing units with hermetic compressor for compact refrigeration

Condensing Units with Hermetic Compressor use sealed compressors (compressor and motor in the same sealed housing), which eliminates any possibility of refrigerant leaking through the compressor shaft. This design is the most common in small and medium commercial refrigeration, offering an excellent balance of efficiency, compactness and installation cost. Hermetic units differ from semi-hermetic ones in that, in the event of a major failure, the compressor is replaced as a whole (it cannot be repaired on site).

FAQs

Can I repair a hermetic compressor if it fails?

Hermetic compressors cannot be repaired on site. In the event of a major failure (burnt winding, internal mechanical breakage), the whole compressor is replaced. This contrasts with semi-hermetic compressors, where valves, pistons and other internal components can be changed on site. However, the lower cost of a hermetic compressor means that full replacement is still cost-competitive in the small capacity range.
