Description

Heavy-duty vacuum pouches 200 x 300 mm are the reinforced version of the most universal size in the range: the same 20 x 30 cm, but in a 150 micron gauge instead of the usual 90. Supplied in packs of 100, they are made for product that punctures standard film.

What these pouches are used for

Film thickness is what separates a pack that arrives intact from one that turns up punctured in the chiller. Going from 90 to 150 micron makes the pouch far more resistant to abrasion, to pressure and above all to bones and sharp edges, which is exactly what makes vacuum packing fail in a butchery.

  • Butchery: chops, ribs and bone-in cuts.
  • Cutting room: product that has not been boned.
  • Fishmongers: pieces with bones or fins.
  • Frozen product: items with hard edges that pierce thin film.
  • Dispatch: packs that will have to survive transport and handling.

Why gauge counts as a preventive control

A punctured pack loses the vacuum and, with it, the protection of the product.

What the supply includes

One pack of 100 vacuum pouches, 200 x 300 mm, in reinforced 150 micron gauge.

The same size is available in standard 90 micron gauge, which costs less and is the sensible choice for product with no bones or sharp edges. Full boxes of ten packs are also available.

Frequently asked questions

What does 150 micron actually give you?

More film thickness and therefore more resistance to puncture, abrasion and pressure. It does not improve the oxygen barrier or the preservation itself: what improves is the probability that the pack reaches the end of its shelf life intact.

Do I need it for all my product?

No, and it would be an unnecessary cost. For sliced product, prepared items, cheese or boned cuts, 90 micron does the job perfectly. Reinforced gauge earns its place with bone, fins, sharp edges, or packs that are going to travel.

Does it seal just as well?

Yes, it is the same coextruded polyamide and polyethylene film, only thicker. What it may need is an adjustment to the sealing time on the machine: thicker film needs slightly more heat to fuse properly.

Can I alternate gauges on the same machine?

Yes, without difficulty. Keep two programmes stored on the machine, one per gauge, each with its own sealing time. Changing pouch without changing programme is a frequent cause of defective seals.

Which other sizes come in reinforced gauge?

In this range, this one and the 350 x 550 mm. Those are the two reinforced references available, one medium and one large, covering the two most common cases.
