Description
Heavy-duty vacuum pouches 350 x 550 mm combine the two most demanding characteristics in the range: a large format, 35 x 55 cm, and a reinforced 150 micron gauge. Supplied in packs of 100, they are built for large pieces that also have bone, sharp edges, or a journey ahead of them.
What these pouches are used for
This is the reference for the difficult cases. A large bone-in piece in thin film is close to a guaranteed loss, because the weight of the product presses the edge against the plastic for hours. The 150 micron gauge gives the resistance that scenario demands, and the 550 mm depth takes pieces that fit no other reinforced format.
- Meat industry: large pieces that have not been boned.
- Cutting room: whole rib racks and bone-in cuts.
- Abattoirs and handling plants: bulky product for dispatch.
- Frozen product: large pieces with hard edges.
- Distribution: packs that travel the whole logistics chain.

What the supply includes
One pack of 100 vacuum pouches, 350 x 550 mm, in reinforced 150 micron gauge.
It is one of the two reinforced references in the range, alongside the 200 x 300 mm. Full boxes are also available.
Frequently asked questions
Why 150 micron in a large format?
Because the two risk factors compound: a large pouch carries more weight and is handled more, and if the product also has bone, thin film is simply not enough. That combination produces more failures at standard gauge than any other.
Does the machine need adjusting?
It is worth doing. A 150 micron film needs slightly more sealing time than a 90 micron one to fuse properly. The practical answer is to store a dedicated programme on the machine for this gauge and select it whenever you use it.
Which machine takes it?
A chamber machine with at least 550 mm of chamber depth and a sealing bar of 350 mm or more. Floor-standing long-chamber machines meet that; compact benchtop models do not.
Does it fully protect against bone?
It greatly reduces the risk but does not remove it. With particularly aggressive edges it is worth protecting the area before loading the piece, because no film thickness resists the pressure of a cutting edge indefinitely.
Is it suitable for freezing?
That is one of its usual applications, because frozen product has hard edges and handling in the cold store is demanding. Check the temperature range declared by the film manufacturer before committing it to that use.
Other pouch sizes and equipment
- Heavy-duty vacuum pouches 200 x 300 mm 150 micron: the other reinforced reference, in a medium size.
- Vacuum pouches 350 x 500 mm: a similar size in standard gauge, and cheaper.
- Vacuum pouches 400 x 600 mm: the largest size in the range, in 90 micron.
- EVD-22 double chamber vacuum packing machine: suitable equipment for running these formats in series.
