Description

Vacuum pouches 250 x 350 mm are roomy in both dimensions: 25 x 35 cm, in 90 micron gauge and packs of 100. The size covers medium primal cuts, batches of prepared product and anything that will not sit comfortably in a pouch only 300 mm deep.

What these pouches are used for

This is the size that usually sits alongside the counter format in businesses that pack both for direct sale and for stock. It leaves enough room to place the piece with clearance, and clearance is what separates a reliable seal from one that gives way the next day.

  • Cutting room: medium-sized boned cuts.
  • Butchery with production room: batches of sliced product and roasting joints.
  • Central kitchens: large portions of cooked product.
  • Cheese dairies: whole pieces in medium and large formats.
  • Dispatch: making up consignments of grouped product.

How pouch size affects the vacuum cycle

A large pouch holds more air, so the cycle takes a little longer. With a pump of adequate capacity the difference is small, but it becomes noticeable when a lot of large units are packed on a machine with a small pump, and that is worth knowing before standardising on a big format.

The same plan is the reason product should be cold before it is packed: heat generates vapour that interferes with the seal, and condensation inside the pack encourages microbial growth.

What the supply includes

One pack of 100 vacuum pouches, 250 x 350 mm, 90 micron gauge.

Also in full boxes of ten packs.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of pieces is this size for?

Product that exceeds 20 cm in one dimension and has volume: medium-sized boned cuts, grouped batches or large portions of prepared food. On small product it simply means spending film you do not need on every pack.

Does it need a long sealing bar?

The open end of the pouch measures 250 mm, so the bar has to cover at least that length. Most chamber machines manage it without difficulty, but on very compact models it is worth checking before committing to the size.

Can I pack product while it is still warm?

Not advisable. Product should be cold before packing: heat produces vapour that interferes with the weld and, more importantly, condensation inside the pack favours microbial growth. Chilling before packing is a basic rule of food safety management.

Can I mix sizes in the same cycle?

Yes, provided every pouch has its open end properly resting on the sealing bar. The practical problem is that pouches of different sizes sit at different heights, so one of them can easily end up badly positioned.

How does it compare with the 250 x 300 mm?

Same width, five centimetres more depth. If the piece fits the 300 with a couple of centimetres to spare, stay there; the extra depth only pays off when the product is longer or when two units go in one after the other.
