Description

The BC counting scale handles counting by weight with three 6-digit, 20 mm LCD displays —total weight, piece weight and number of pieces— on a 300 x 230 mm stainless steel pan. It offers 30,000 internal divisions, IP44 protection and an optional RS232 output with printer and PC format.

What it is for

It is the general-purpose counting scale: six digits per display make it possible to handle high unit counts without running short, and the 300 x 230 mm pan takes medium-sized boxes and tubs. If you later need to send the data to a computer or print it, the optional RS232 output covers that need.

Approval and metrological verification

The BC is designed for internal control: counting, stocktaking and order picking. In those uses there is no obligation for periodic verification; it is advisable to check the unit with test weights as part of the company’s quality plan.

When the weight sets the amount of a commercial transaction, the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016 apply, requiring an approved and verified instrument, with periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body. If a ticket is also printed that must serve as a simplified invoice, it must comply with Royal Decree 1619/2012. Tell us the intended use before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

What do the 6-digit displays provide?

They show high figures without truncating them, both for weight and number of pieces. With five digits the count falls short once it goes beyond tens of thousands of units; with six, the scale keeps showing the full quantity, which is what you need when counting very small items.

What is the optional RS232 output for?

To send the weighing result to a ticket printer or a computer, in two different formats depending on the destination. It is the way to keep a written record of a count or to transfer the data to a spreadsheet without typing it by hand. It is requested when configuring the order.

How is the sample taken for counting?

A few known pieces are placed on the pan and the scale calculates the piece weight; from then on it converts any weight into units. The sample should be large enough and the pieces uniform: these are the two factors that determine the reliability of the count.

What is the difference between the BC and the BCP?

The BCP doubles the internal resolution, from 30,000 to 60,000 divisions, and has an aluminium load cell. That makes it preferable for counting very light pieces, where the piece weight is small. Otherwise —300 x 230 mm pan, displays and functions— both are equivalent.

Does it warn when the battery is running low?

Yes, it has a low battery indicator that alerts you before the unit switches off, giving you time to connect it to the mains. The battery is internal and rechargeable, and mains power is supplied via a 230 Vac, 50 Hz AC/DC adapter.

Can it be used in a damp area?

Protection is IP44, which covers dust and splashes, and the included cover protects the keyboard. This is sufficient for warehouses, bakeries and preparation areas with normal cleaning, but not for washing with a water jet. For those environments, a platform scale with an IP65 load cell is advisable.
