Description
The DINA DQ-950 dual-body retail scale is a price computing scale with a 15 kg capacity and 5 g division, a 12.1 in TFT touch screen for the operator and a 7 in TFT display facing the customer, supplied with EC verification. It suits counters with a wide range that also want the display working as advertising space.
What this scale is used for
The DQ-950 replaces the membrane keyboard with a fully configurable 12.1 in touch screen: the buttons for sections, PLUs and operators are defined by image, number and size, and can be ordered by code, by name or by best sellers. For a counter with hundreds of lines, a delicatessen with cheeses, cured meats and prepared foods, that removes the problem of memorising codes.
The dual-body format separates the pan from the display block, so the 7 in customer display sits in the buyer’s line of sight with adjustable tilt. That second display does more than show the weight: it runs a continuous sequence of images, offers and promotions that keeps playing during the sale. The images are designed on a PC with the CDA software for Windows, so the scale itself acts as digital signage at the point of sale.
- Delicatessen: hundreds of lines reachable by image rather than by code.
- Butchery and production rooms with direct sale: several operators at once.
- Municipal markets: a counter shared across shifts.
- Shops running promotions: offers shown on the customer display during the sale.
- Businesses tracking margin: profitability code and reports per line.

Turning the customer display into point-of-sale advertising
Most retail scales use the customer display for one number. The DQ-950 uses it as a screen: a continuous sequence of images, offers and promotions designed on a PC with the CDA software and sent to every scale on the counter, still running while a sale is in progress. In practice that turns a piece of equipment you already need into signage at the exact moment the customer is deciding.
It changes nothing about the metrology. A scale used to price a sale is a non-automatic weighing instrument, and it has to be trade approved, carrying the CE marking, the green M marking and its accuracy class, before it can be used in a commercial transaction. The DQ-950 is supplied with EC verification, with an ENAC certificate as an option, and remains subject to periodic reverification by an authorised body at the intervals set by the national authority, and to a further verification after any repair or after seals have been broken. Where the scale prints a label that reaches the final consumer, that label falls.

Frequently asked questions
How many items and operators does the DQ-950 hold?
It stores 10,000 PLUs and allows 1,000 direct PLUs, of which up to 100 are shown per screen across successive pages. It supports 20 operators with separate transactions, enough for market counters, production rooms with direct sale and shops running several shifts at once.
Can advertising be shown on the customer screen?
Yes. The 7 in customer display plays a continuous sequence of images, offers and promotions that carries on showing even during sales operations. The images are designed on a computer with the CDA software for Windows and sent to each scale on the counter.
Does it include stock control?
Yes, on the scale itself. You enter the opening stock, sales are deducted automatically, and reports can be viewed and printed for each PLU. Stock can also be adjusted after a stocktake and the information sent to the computer.
What management reports does it give?
Sales by item, by operator, by time band and for the last month, plus margins, cash drawer position and a list of modified PLUs. Each PLU takes a profitability code, so margin can be analysed line by line.
Can the scale be consulted from a phone?
Yes, through the DWS (Dina Web Server) application, which gives access to each scale from any computer or mobile device with a browser. Communication is over Ethernet TCP/IP and, optionally, Wi-Fi 802.11 or HomePlug.
Is a router or access point needed for Wi-Fi?
Not necessarily. The internal Wi-Fi module can be configured as an access point, so no external unit is required to network the scales. Over Ethernet or Wi-Fi it links up to 16 scales per section.
