Description

The 1836 mm meat band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a half-moon tooth (7 mm). It matches saws taking an 1836 mm band and gives a clean cut with no residue on fresh meat. Supplied in a box of four blades.

Band type: MEAT (half-moon). Tooth size: 7 mm (half-moon). Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,836 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).

What an 1836 mm meat blade is used for

This is a workshop saw size, the kind that runs daily and for hours at a stretch. In that use the difference between a new band and one about to give up is less about output than about effort: with the blade in good condition the piece feeds itself and the operator only guides it.

  • Meat preparation room: daily production slicing and portioning.
  • Butcher’s shop: cutting boned pieces.
  • Delicatessen: portioning cured products.
  • Supermarket: meat sections with their own preparation room.
  • Catering: preparing portions.

Getting into the places the residue hides

A band saw has areas you cannot see that collect residue: inside the housings, the run of the band beneath the table, the guides and the tensioner itself.

The sensible routine is to take the band off at the end of the day, wash and dry it separately, and clean the inside of the machine before refitting. That single habit covers the hygiene requirement and the inspection of the tooth at the same time, which is why it is worth doing properly rather than quickly.

What the supply includes

Box of four 1836 mm band saw blades for cutting meat.

The same length is available in a version for bone.

Frequently asked questions

Which band do I need: meat, bone or frozen?

It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:

  • MEAT (half-moon): 7 mm (half-moon) tooth. Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,836 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness). (this blade)
  • BONE (4 TPI): 6.35 mm (4 teeth per inch) tooth. A very balanced option for bone-in meat and for improving the look of the cut. Especially suited to machines with a linear speed below 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,836 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,836 mm bone band.
  • FROZEN (3 TPI): 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch) tooth. Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,836 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). Not in our range at 1,836 mm: see other lengths in Saw Blades.

Does the band have to come off to clean the machine?

It is what we would recommend at the end of the day. With the band out you can reach the places residue collects and, at the same time, inspect the tooth in detail, which is impossible with it fitted.

How do I clean the band without cutting myself?

With the machine isolated, holding the blade by the toothless edge and using a brush, never a bare hand on the cutting edge. A used band cuts just as well outside the machine as in it.

Can the band be left to soak?

Not advisable. Carbon steel rusts quickly if it stays in contact with water, and a rusted band loses cut quality and is not acceptable in contact with food.

What cleaning product should I use?

Ones approved for food contact surfaces and compatible with steel, following the machine manufacturer’s instructions. And always with a rinse and a thorough dry afterwards.

How often is a deep clean needed?

The full routine daily, and a deeper clean of the machine’s interior at longer intervals, timed with the technical service visit. That is the moment to check guides, bearings and the condition of the wheels.

How do I know what blade length my saw needs?

The number in the product name (1600, 1820, 2330…) is the blade length in millimetres, and it must match exactly the length specified by your saw’s manufacturer on the rating plate or in the manual. If you have no documentation, measure the old blade laid out along its full circumference. Bernad® can help you confirm the length your machine takes.

How many blades come in a box, and how should I store spares?

Four blades, folded to take up less space and travel protected. Store them in their box, somewhere dry and with nothing heavy on top: moisture rusts carbon steel and crushing deforms the blade. When unfolding them, wear gloves and leave space around you, because the blade springs back into shape suddenly.
