Description

Sliding fire door for large industrial openings with compartmentation requirements

The sliding fire door is the solution for large industrial openings where regulations require fire compartmentation and there is no room for hinged doors. The leaf slides sideways in normal operation and closes automatically on a fire alarm signal, guaranteeing compartmentation of the sector without obstructing passage during normal working conditions.

Technical specifications

  • Type: sliding fire door for wide openings
  • Classification: EI 60 / EI 90 or higher depending on model
  • Steel leaf with non-combustible core (rock wool)
  • Suspension system on fire-resistant steel top rail
  • Gravity or spring closing mechanism on power failure
  • Integrated smoke or rate-of-rise heat detector, or connection to the central system
  • Intumescent perimeter seal

Advantages

✔ Suitable for large openings where hinged doors are not feasible
✔ Guaranteed automatic closing on any power failure (fail-safe)
✔ High fire resistance classification (up to EI 120 on some models)
✔ No sweep space needed when open
✔ Compatible with fire detection and control systems from any manufacturer

Applications

Large openings in industrial warehouses with mandatory fire sectors; access to large cold rooms in separate fire sectors; passages between industrial buildings with EI requirements above EI 60; logistics platforms with warehouses of different risk levels.

Standards and compliance

CE marking according to EN 16034. EI classification according to EN 13501-2. Spanish CTE DB SI. The automatic closing mechanism complies with EN 1155 (electromagnetic hold-open devices for fire doors).

FAQs

Does the sliding fire door close on its own in a fire even if the power fails?

Yes. The fail-safe design ensures the door closes automatically on any power failure, whether caused by the fire itself or a supply cut. The closing mechanism (usually gravity assisted by a spring or counterweight) works independently of the power supply, which is only needed to hold the door open in normal conditions.
