Dimensions: 1,736 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).
The 1736 mm meat band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a half-moon tooth (7 mm). It matches saws taking a 1736 mm band and gives a clean cut with no residue on fresh meat. Supplied in a box of four blades.
Band type: MEAT (half-moon). Tooth size: 7 mm (half-moon). Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,736 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).
This is one of three lengths in the range available in all three versions, meat, bone and frozen, which tells you it belongs to machines that are very common in the trade. The meat version is what goes on for slicing and portioning fresh product, where a smooth cut face is the whole point.

This length exists in three versions because the material being cut changes what is asked of the tooth entirely. The meat version puts the priority on cut finish through soft, wet product. The bone version is built to shear hard tissue without splintering it. The frozen version is for passing through product at low temperature, which behaves like a rigid, abrasive material.
Fitting the wrong version will not damage the machine, but it gives a poor result and exhausts the band very quickly. In a workshop that alternates tasks, the efficient approach is to keep the versions you actually use and swap according to the job, marking the application on each box so they do not get mixed up.
Box of four 1736 mm band saw blades for cutting meat.
This length is also available in a bone version and in a frozen version.
It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:
By the tooth, though it is not always obvious at a glance. The practical answer is to leave the bands in their packaging until you fit them and mark the box with the application, so the frozen version never ends up on a fine slicing job.
It is not the right choice: the meat version (half-moon) is designed for fresh meat. For bone-in meat, fit the bone version (4 TPI): with the meat band the bone will splinter and the band will be finished in no time.
The meat one, by a distance, because fresh product is the least demanding material. The bone and frozen versions work against hard material and are used up sooner, although the pearled tooth is designed to offset that.
Quite a lot. Well-chilled meat cuts better and cleaner than meat at room temperature, which tends to deform under the band. Working the product properly refrigerated improves the finish and is the right thing to do for food safety anyway.
Before you need it. A saw stopped for want of a band halts the whole workshop, so the sensible approach is always to keep at least one spare of the version you use most.
The number in the product name (1600, 1820, 2330…) is the blade length in millimetres, and it must match exactly the length specified by your saw’s manufacturer on the rating plate or in the manual. If you have no documentation, measure the old blade laid out along its full circumference. Bernad® can help you confirm the length your machine takes.
Four blades, folded to take up less space and travel protected. Store them in their box, somewhere dry and with nothing heavy on top: moisture rusts carbon steel and crushing deforms the blade. When unfolding them, wear gloves and leave space around you, because the blade springs back into shape suddenly.
