Description

The 1820 mm meat band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a half-moon tooth (7 mm). It matches saws taking an 1820 mm band, one of the most widespread workshop sizes, and gives a clean cut with no residue on fresh meat. Supplied in a box of four blades.

Band type: MEAT (half-moon). Tooth size: 7 mm (half-moon). Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).

What an 1820 mm meat blade is used for

The 1820 is one of the three lengths in the range available in all three versions, meat, bone and frozen, which tells you it belongs to very common machines. The meat version is what goes on for slicing and portioning fresh product.

  • Meat preparation room: daily production slicing and portioning.
  • Butcher’s shop: cutting boned pieces.
  • Delicatessen: portioning cured products.
  • Supermarket: meat sections with their own preparation room.
  • Catering: preparing portions in the kitchen.

One length, three tooth types

The same length existing in three versions always raises the same question: which one to order. The answer depends on the product and on the machine’s linear speed. For fresh meat, the meat version (half-moon). For bone-in meat, especially on machines below 20 m/s, the bone version (4 TPI). For frozen product, with a more aggressive cut and high production volume, especially above 20 m/s, the frozen version (3 TPI).

Workshops that alternate normally keep two versions and swap according to the task, which takes a few minutes.

What the supply includes

Box of four 1820 mm band saw blades for cutting meat.

This length is also available in a bone version and in a frozen version.

Frequently asked questions

Which band do I need: meat, bone or frozen?

It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:

  • MEAT (half-moon): 7 mm (half-moon) tooth. Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness). (this blade)
  • BONE (4 TPI): 6.35 mm (4 teeth per inch) tooth. A very balanced option for bone-in meat and for improving the look of the cut. Especially suited to machines with a linear speed below 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,820 mm bone band.
  • FROZEN (3 TPI): 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch) tooth. Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,820 mm frozen band.

How long does it take to change version?

A few minutes, with the machine isolated: release the tension, take the band off, fit the new one respecting the tooth direction and tension it again. It is a straightforward operation that everyone on the floor should know how to do.

Can both bands be kept fitted on the machine?

No, only one can be fitted. The one not in use is stored coiled in its box, somewhere dry, and it is worth marking the box with the version so they do not get mixed up at fitting time.

Which version wears out first?

The bone and frozen ones, because they work hard material. The meat version, used only on fresh product, lasts longest. That is also the reason for keeping separate versions in the first place.

Can I slice very thin with this band?

Yes, provided the blade is in good condition and the machine is properly set up. Thickness is set by the saw’s guide; what the band contributes is a clean cut that does not fray the edge of the slice.

Should I release the tension when I finish?

If the machine is going to stand idle for several days, yes: it reduces fatigue in the steel. In daily use it is not necessary, but cleaning and drying the band at the end of each day is.

How do I know what blade length my saw needs?

The number in the product name (1600, 1820, 2330…) is the blade length in millimetres, and it must match exactly the length specified by your saw’s manufacturer on the rating plate or in the manual. If you have no documentation, measure the old blade laid out along its full circumference. Bernad® can help you confirm the length your machine takes.

How many blades come in a box, and how should I store spares?

Four blades, folded to take up less space and travel protected. Store them in their box, somewhere dry and with nothing heavy on top: moisture rusts carbon steel and crushing deforms the blade. When unfolding them, wear gloves and leave space around you, because the blade springs back into shape suddenly.
