Description
The 1820 mm frozen band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a special pearled tooth rated for double life. It matches saws taking an 1820 mm band and is the version specific to cutting frozen product, with a clean finish and no residue. Supplied in a box of four blades.
Band type: FROZEN (3 TPI). Tooth size: 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch). Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness).
What an 1820 mm frozen blade is used for
Cutting frozen is a different operation from cutting fresh meat. The piece does not give, does not deform and does not cushion: every tooth takes material off a rigid block. That calls for a blade built for the effort, because a conventional band loses its cut in a matter of minutes.
- Fishmonger: cutting steaks and loins from frozen fish.
- Butcher’s shop: dividing pieces from the freezer.
- Catering and institutional kitchens: portioning frozen product.
- Distribution: splitting blocks and batches.
- Industry: preparing frozen raw material.

The extra risks when the block slides
Frozen product adds two hazards to the usual ones on a band saw. The first is grip: an iced block slides on a steel table far more than a fresh piece, and that unexpected movement is dangerous with the band running. The second is that, because the cut takes more effort, the operator tends to push.
Cold-handling gloves improve grip and protect against prolonged contact with the piece, which is a real consideration when a run takes more than a few minutes.
What the supply includes
Box of four 1820 mm band saw blades for cutting frozen product.
This length is also available in a fresh meat version and in a bone version.
Frequently asked questions
Which band do I need: meat, bone or frozen?
It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:
- MEAT (half-moon): 7 mm (half-moon) tooth. Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,820 mm meat band.
- BONE (4 TPI): 6.35 mm (4 teeth per inch) tooth. A very balanced option for bone-in meat and for improving the look of the cut. Especially suited to machines with a linear speed below 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,820 mm bone band.
- FROZEN (3 TPI): 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch) tooth. Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,820 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). (this blade)
Can any frozen product be cut?
Within whatever your machine’s cutting height allows, and provided the piece can rest stably. An irregular block that does not sit flat on the table is dangerous: steady it before bringing it near the band.
Why does the piece slide so much?
Because an iced surface has very little friction against a steel table. Suitable gloves, seating the piece properly and using the pusher are the three measures that stop the block moving unexpectedly.
Should I let the product temper slightly first?
No, it is counterproductive: half-thawed product cuts worse than properly frozen product, and the thawed surface must not be refrozen. Cut it frozen and return it to the cold store immediately.
How long does a band last cutting frozen?
Less than cutting fresh meat, by a clear margin. The double-life pearled tooth is designed to offset that, but working rigid material always consumes more tooth.
Do I need a special machine?
Not necessarily, but you do need a saw in good condition with enough power. If your machine bogs down on frozen product, forcing it is not the answer: have the equipment checked or consider one with more capacity.
