Description

Vacuum pouches 150 x 300 mm are the narrow, elongated format of the range: 15 cm wide by 30 cm long, in 90 micron gauge and packs of 100. The proportion suits tubular product – chorizo, cured sausage, black pudding, fresh sausage – which sits loose and badly presented inside a square pouch.

What these pouches are used for

Matching the pouch to the product is not only a question of presentation: the less slack film there is, the fewer creases form when the air is drawn out, the better the product shows through and the less material is spent per unit. For long, slim items, 150 mm of width is just enough to load without forcing and narrow enough for the film to finish tight.

  • Charcuterie: chorizo, cured sausage and thin-calibre salami.
  • Butchery: black pudding, fresh sausage and butifarra.
  • Production room: own-recipe cured sausage.
  • Online sales: single pieces ready to dispatch.
  • Catering: portioning and chilled storage of prepared product.

Why the film needs two layers

A single polymer cannot do both jobs. The polyamide layer provides the oxygen barrier and the mechanical strength that lets the pouch survive handling; the polyethylene layer provides sealability, the ability to fuse to itself and give an airtight closure. Coextruding the two is what produces a pouch that seals cleanly and protects properly.

As a food contact material the pouch falls under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and, being plastic, under Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, which sets migration limits and requires a declaration of compliance. Within the HACCP plan required by Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, vacuum packing is normally defined as a step with temperature and seal integrity controls, and the pouch itself forms part of documented supplier control.

What the supply includes

One pack of 100 vacuum pouches, 150 x 300 mm, 90 micron gauge.

Pouches are supplied flat, ready to use in any chamber vacuum machine. Full boxes of ten packs are also available.

Frequently asked questions

What size of product actually fits a 150 x 300 mm pouch?

Items up to roughly 13 cm across and 25 cm long, leaving clearance so the open end lies flat across the sealing bar. It is a size designed for thin-calibre sausage and other elongated product, not for wide or bulky cuts, which need a squarer format to seal reliably.

What does 90 micron gauge mean in practice?

It is the thickness of the film, 90 thousandths of a millimetre. Gauge governs how well the pouch resists abrasion and puncture. Ninety micron is the standard choice for product with no bone and no sharp edges; bone-in cuts and cartilage call for a heavier gauge instead.

Can I freeze product in these pouches?

Vacuum packing is a sound basis for freezing because it removes the air inside the pack that causes freezer burn. Check the temperature range stated in the film declaration of compliance, and bear in mind that frozen product with hard edges may need extra protection or a heavier gauge.

Will they fit my chamber machine?

At 300 mm deep the pouch lies flat inside almost any chamber, compact benchtop models included, with the open end across the sealing bar. Chamber size only becomes a real constraint with the longer pouches in the range, at 450 mm and above, rather than with this one.

How many pouches come in a pack?

One hundred. That is a workable quantity for a counter with moderate turnover, and it keeps stock tidy when several sizes are held at once in a production room. Where a single size is used continuously, full boxes of ten packs are simpler to reorder.
