Description

The KRX crane scale is a portable hanging scale with ABS housing, backlit LCD display and ergonomic handle. It runs on three AAA batteries (included), so it can be used anywhere without a cable or power socket, and it has a built-in tape measure that lets you record the weight and dimensions of the package in the same operation.

What it is for

It is the crane scale you carry with you: it fits in a drawer, weighs little and hangs directly from the piece or from the handle of a package. Compared with a rail hook, the KRX handles one-off weighings and quick checks where setting up fixed equipment is not worthwhile.

Approval and metrological verification

The KRX is intended as internal control equipment: receiving checks, stock reviews and support weighings at the workstation. For that use there is no obligation for metrological verification.

When the weighing determines the amount of a sale, the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016 require an approved instrument, verified before being put into service and subject to periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body. For those cases, among the suspension crane scales, the SMC model is the one declared valid for legal metrology.

Frequently asked questions

What batteries does the KRX crane scale need?

Three AAA batteries, which are supplied with the unit. This is an advantage over rechargeable-battery crane scales: when they run out they are replaced on the spot, without waiting for a recharge, which is practical for equipment used occasionally that may be stored for weeks.

What is the built-in tape measure for?

It lets you measure the package at the same time as weighing it. In dispatch and logistics you need to know weight and dimensions to calculate the volumetric weight on which many carriers base their rates, and having it built into the crane scale saves looking for a separate tape measure.

What does the HOLD function do?

It freezes the weighing value on the display even if the load keeps swinging or is removed from the hook. It is essential on a hanging scale, because the piece rarely stays still: with HOLD you read the weight calmly and note it down without having to hold the load still.

What is the difference between auto-zero and manual zero?

Auto-zero corrects small drifts by itself and sets the display to zero when switched on, while manual zero is applied when the operator decides, for example after hanging an item whose weight is to be deducted. The KRX lets you configure both behaviours according to how you work.

Can the weight of the basket or auxiliary hook be deducted?

Yes, with the tare function: hang the empty container or accessory, press tare and the display returns to zero, so from then on only the contents are shown. This is the usual way to weigh product in nets, sacks or baskets without doing subtractions by hand.

Is it easy to read in a cold room or a dark warehouse?

The display is a backlit LCD, so the weight can also be seen in low light, which is the usual situation in cold rooms and storage areas. For readings several metres away, a crane scale with large digits is advisable, such as the 35 mm STC or the STX with 30 mm red LEDs.
