Description

The NFZ scale is a four load cell floor platform valid for legal metrology, approved for 3,000 divisions OIML class III and CE certified. It has IP66 steel OIML R-60 C3 load cells, 3.5 mm black enamelled checker plate and the BR16 indicator, with 40 mm backlit LCD display.

What it is for

It is the floor scale for those who need the weighing to have commercial validity and, in addition, to be able to read it from where the load is handled. The 40 mm digit height, unusual on an industrial platform, avoids having to approach the display for each operation.

Functions: piece counting, zeroing, four hold modes (off, moving animal, peak value, stable and stable with auto-cancel to zero), weight control by limits with visual signal and alarm, three converter speeds, gross/net and tare. Accumulation and totalising are only available outside legal metrology.

Legal metrology and periodic verification

The NFZ is approved for 3,000 divisions OIML class III and has CE certification, so it can be used when the weight determines the amount of a transaction. In Spain that use is regulated by Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016: verification before being put into service, periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body and re-verification after a repair that affects measurement.

It is worth knowing a detail from the data sheet itself: accumulation and totalising are only available outside legal metrology mode. This is not a limitation of the unit, but a consequence of the rules: in regulated use the instrument must show each weighing individually and traceably, without internal sums that cannot be checked. We configure the appropriate mode according to the intended use.

José Bernad, S.L. has been installing floor scales in warehouses and the food industry from Albacete for almost 40 years. We are a team of 35 people and have our own technical service, without subcontractors: on an instrument subject to metrological control, every intervention affects the validity of the verification.

We offer assembly of the set, programming of the indicator —units, range mode, weight control limits and converter speed—, commissioning with calibration at the final location and handling of verification with a Control Body, both initial and periodic, as a service.

Frequently asked questions

Why does accumulation not work in legal metrology?

Because in regulated use each weighing must be independently verifiable. An internal sum of several weighings cannot be checked by a third party, so the rules exclude it. If you need to accumulate and totalise, the unit must work outside legal mode, for internal control.

What does 3,000 divisions OIML class III mean?

That the instrument is approved to divide its capacity into up to 3,000 verifiable steps, within the medium accuracy class, which is that of general trade. It is the usual level for floor scales intended for receiving and dispatching goods.

Why a 40 mm display?

Because on a floor scale the operator is standing, next to the load and often with their hands full. With 40 mm digits the figure can be read from several metres away without bending down, whereas a 20 or 25 mm display forces you to go closer for each weighing.

Can I choose the working units?

Yes, but they are defined when placing the order: kilograms, tonnes or grams. The same applies to the range mode, single or multi-range. It is best to decide based on actual use, because changing it later involves reconfiguring and re-verifying the instrument.

Where is the display installed?

It can be mounted on a column with the included ABS bracket or fixed to the wall using the anchoring holes provided. The four metres of cable allow it to be placed at a visible point protected from forklift traffic, which is the usual cause of broken cabling.

What is the difference between the NFZ and the ZFZ?

They share the platform: four load cells, 3.5 mm checker plate and four metres of cable. The NFZ is valid for legal metrology, with OIML R-60 C3 load cells and approval for 3,000 divisions. The ZFZ has the 30 mm BR15 indicator, more working units and RS232 output as standard.
