Description
The PTB weighing platform is a four load cell floor scale valid for legal metrology, built entirely in stainless steel: 4 mm smooth plate, tubular profile structure and stainless OIML R-60 C3 load cells with IP69k protection. It allows the load cells to be accessed from above, without lifting the platform, and supports above-floor or pit mounting.
What it is for
It is the platform for the most hygiene-demanding areas, those in which the installation is washed daily with hot water under pressure. The tubular profile structure leaves the underside of the scale clear, so water drains away and it can be cleaned underneath without dismantling anything.
- Cutting room: weighing trolleys and containers in areas with systematic washing.
- Food industry: weight control on wet process lines, with cleaning between shifts.
- Bakery and production kitchens: weighing tubs and kneading trolleys in the production area.
- Dispatch: pit installation flush with the floor so pallets can be rolled on.
- Raw material receiving: checking the incoming weight against the delivery note.

Legal metrology and periodic verification
The PTB is valid for legal metrology and has load cells with an OIML R-60 class C3 test certificate. It can therefore be integrated into a weighing instrument intended for regulated uses, in which the weight determines the amount of a transaction.
Verification is carried out on the installed assembly —platform and indicator— in accordance with the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016: before being put into service, with periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body, and again after any repair that affects measurement or if the seals are broken. Bear in mind that top access to the load cells makes those interventions easier without dismantling the scale.
What is supplied
- Stainless steel four load cell platform with 4 mm smooth plate and tubular profile structure.
- Stainless steel OIML R-60 C3 load cells with IP69k protection.
- ABS junction box with IP68 protection.
- Top access cover to the load cells.
- Height-adjustable feet.
The weight indicator is selected separately; for wet areas, a display with a housing and protection suited to the environment is advisable.

Frequently asked questions
What does IP69k protection mean?
It is the most demanding rating against water: resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, the type of cleaning used in the food industry. An IP69k load cell is prepared for that daily washing, whereas an IP66 or IP67 one would end up deteriorating.
What is the advantage of top access to the load cells?
It allows a load cell to be inspected or replaced by opening the platform from above, without lifting it or taking it out of the pit. On a pit-mounted scale, that difference saves hours of work and avoids having to clear the area to manoeuvre with lifting equipment.
Why a tubular structure and not folded sheet?
Because the tubular profile leaves space under the platform: water drains away, dirt does not build up in closed boxes and it can be cleaned underneath. In food environments that construction detail matters as much as the material, because whatever cannot be cleaned ends up being a hygiene problem.
Can it be installed in a pit?
Yes. The PTB supports above-floor or pit mounting. Pit-mounted, it sits flush with the floor and pallets roll on without a ramp, which speeds up work. It requires a pit with the right dimensions and drainage; we advise you on its preparation before installation.
Why is the junction box IP68 and the load cells IP69k?
Because each component is protected according to its exposure. The load cells are under the platform, where water collects and the cleaning jet reaches; the junction box is placed in a more sheltered spot. IP68 already means resistance to continuous immersion, more than enough for that location.
What is the difference between the PTB and the BXS?
Both are stainless steel, pit-mountable and valid for legal metrology. The PTB raises the load cell protection rating to IP69k, uses a tubular structure and allows top access to the load cells. The BXS uses folded sheet, IP68 load cells and is supplied with five metres of cable and a CUF7 connector.
Alternatives and related models
- BXS platform: stainless steel with four IP68 load cells, 4.5 mm smooth plate, CUF7 connector and built-in spirit level.
- BVLS platform: low-profile stainless steel with folding ramps, when a pit cannot be built.
- MTX platform: enamelled steel alternative with checker plate for dry storage areas.
- BMM platform: single load cell with an all-stainless IP68 version, for smaller capacities and surfaces.
- GI410i PRINT indicator: display with stainless steel housing and integrated thermal printer, suitable for the same type of environment.
