Description

The 1650 mm meat band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a half-moon tooth (7 mm). It is intended for saws whose band measures 1650 mm and delivers a clean cut with no residue on fresh meat. Supplied in a box of four blades.

Band type: MEAT (half-moon). Tooth size: 7 mm (half-moon). Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,650 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).

What a 1650 mm meat blade is used for

Cutting meat on a band saw is after one thing above all: a smooth surface. A clean cut presents the piece better on the counter and leaves less torn tissue, which is where the product weeps and starts to deteriorate. That is why the condition of the tooth has consequences well beyond output.

  • Butcher’s shop: daily slicing and portioning.
  • Preparation room: portioning boned pieces.
  • Delicatessen: cutting medium-sized cured products.
  • Catering: preparing portions in the kitchen.
  • Supermarket: fresh section with a compact saw.

Food contact materials and drying the band

One practical detail gets forgotten: the band has to be dried before it is put away or left fitted but unused. Laminated carbon steel is sensitive to moisture, and a band stored wet shows rust the next morning, usually at the points where it sits against the wheels.

Box of four 1650 mm band saw blades for cutting meat.

The same length is available in a version for bone.

Frequently asked questions

Which band do I need: meat, bone or frozen?

It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:

  • MEAT (half-moon): 7 mm (half-moon) tooth. Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 1,650 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness). (this blade)
  • BONE (4 TPI): 6.35 mm (4 teeth per inch) tooth. A very balanced option for bone-in meat and for improving the look of the cut. Especially suited to machines with a linear speed below 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,650 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 1,650 mm bone band.
  • FROZEN (3 TPI): 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch) tooth. Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 1,650 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). Not in our range at 1,650 mm: see other lengths in Saw Blades.

What actually makes a cut clean?

A tooth in good condition that passes through the tissue without tearing it. If the cut face comes out frayed or leaves debris, the band is worn: the product looks worse on display and weeps more in the cabinet.

Why is there a 1650 size if 1625 already exists?

Because each saw manufacturer sets the band length for its own models and there is no single standard. That is why the range covers lengths very close to one another: each one belongs to a specific group of machines.

Can the band be left fitted on the machine?

Yes, but release the tension if the saw is going to stand idle for several days. A permanently tensioned band fatigues, and carbon steel left damp starts to rust at the contact points with the wheels.

How many spare bands should I keep?

At least one, and two in a shop that cuts every day. A broken band puts the saw out of action and forces you back to cutting by hand, which takes longer and carries more risk.

Does cutting speed matter?

Yes. Pushing the piece faster than the band can cut overheats the tooth and pulls the cut off line. Guide the piece without forcing it: if you have to push, the problem is the band, not your pace.
