Description

The 2200 mm meat band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a half-moon tooth (7 mm). It matches saws taking a 2200 mm band and gives a clean cut with no residue on fresh meat. Supplied in a box of four blades.

Band type: MEAT (half-moon). Tooth size: 7 mm (half-moon). Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 2,200 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness).

What a 2200 mm meat blade is used for

This length, available in all three versions, belongs to cutting-room and large workshop machines. The meat version goes on for slicing and portioning product that has already been boned, where what you are after is an impeccable finish at high volume.

  • Cutting room: portioning boned pieces.
  • Meat industry: cutting raw material.
  • Large preparation room: high-volume daily production.
  • Central kitchen: preparing portions in series.
  • Industrial delicatessen: cutting large-format cured products.

Shared machines and written procedures

In a cutting room several operators usually share the same saw, and that is where training stops being a formality and becomes an operational necessity: everyone has to know the same procedure, from how to position the piece to how to change the band.

The machine itself has, with guards, an emergency stop and protection against unexpected start-up. But in an environment with staff turnover, what prevents accidents most reliably is having the procedure written down and going through it with each new person. A short document next to the machine settles arguments and doubles as evidence that the information was given.

What the supply includes

Box of four 2200 mm band saw blades for cutting meat.

This length is also available in a bone version and in a frozen version.

Frequently asked questions

Which band do I need: meat, bone or frozen?

It depends on what you cut and on your saw’s linear speed (it is in the manual; if you do not know it, call us on +34 967 219 649 with the make and model). The three versions, in this length:

  • MEAT (half-moon): 7 mm (half-moon) tooth. Recommended for fresh meat. Dimensions: 2,200 × 16 × 0.40 mm (length × width × thickness). (this blade)
  • BONE (4 TPI): 6.35 mm (4 teeth per inch) tooth. A very balanced option for bone-in meat and for improving the look of the cut. Especially suited to machines with a linear speed below 20 m/s. Dimensions: 2,200 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 2,200 mm bone band.
  • FROZEN (3 TPI): 8.46 mm (3 teeth per inch) tooth. Recommended for frozen product: a more aggressive cut and high production volume. Works especially well on machines with a linear speed above 20 m/s. Dimensions: 2,200 × 16 × 0.50 mm (length × width × thickness). See the 2,200 mm frozen band.

What does a new operator need to know?

How to start and stop the machine, where the emergency stop is, how to position the piece, how to use the pusher, and what must never be done: removing guards, bringing a hand near the band, or cleaning with the machine running.

Is it worth writing the procedure down?

Yes, particularly with several shifts or staff turnover. A short document beside the machine answers questions and serves as evidence of the information provided to the worker.

How often should the training be refreshed?

When each new person joins, and periodically for everyone else. Also whenever something relevant changes on the machine or in the working procedure.

Can anyone change the band?

Anyone who has been shown how should be able to, because if only one person knows, the machine stops the day that person is away. What matters is that it is always done with the equipment isolated.

Does training affect how long bands last?

More than you would expect. An operator who does not force the piece, respects the feed rate and notices in time that the band is finished extends the life of the consumable and cuts breakages.

How do I know what blade length my saw needs?

The number in the product name (1600, 1820, 2330…) is the blade length in millimetres, and it must match exactly the length specified by your saw’s manufacturer on the rating plate or in the manual. If you have no documentation, measure the old blade laid out along its full circumference. Bernad® can help you confirm the length your machine takes.

How many blades come in a box, and how should I store spares?

Four blades, folded to take up less space and travel protected. Store them in their box, somewhere dry and with nothing heavy on top: moisture rusts carbon steel and crushing deforms the blade. When unfolding them, wear gloves and leave space around you, because the blade springs back into shape suddenly.
