The BCD counting scale is the most complete model in the bench series: 60,000 internal divisions, aluminium load cell, 100 PLUs with description, weight, units and tare, RS232 output as standard and connection to an auxiliary platform for dual-scale operation. 300 x 230 mm stainless steel pan, ABS housing and IP44 protection.

What it is for

Dual-scale mode is what sets it apart: the bench scale takes the sample with its high resolution and the auxiliary platform handles the large volume. This way thousands of small pieces inside a box or on a pallet can be counted without losing reliability in the piece weight.

Approval and metrological verification

The 60,000 internal divisions of the BCD are calculation resolution, not legal verification divisions: they serve to refine the piece weight, which is what counting accuracy depends on.

The BCD is used for internal control of stock and processes, where mandatory periodic verification does not apply. If the weight is going to determine the amount of a sale, the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016 require an approved and verified instrument, with periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body. And if the printed ticket must be valid as a simplified invoice, it has to comply with Royal Decree 1619/2012.

Frequently asked questions

What is dual-scale mode and what is it for?

It consists of connecting an auxiliary platform to the bench scale. The sample is taken on the small pan, which has higher resolution, and the full batch is counted on the large platform. This way large quantities of small pieces can be counted without sacrificing the precision of the piece weight.

What is stored in the 100 PLUs?

Each PLU stores the item description, its piece weight, the units and the associated tare. When the item is selected, the scale applies that data in one go, without repeating the sampling or taring the container again. This is what speeds up stocktakes with recurring items.

What is the difference between the BCD and the BCP?

They share a high resolution of 60,000 divisions and an aluminium load cell. The BCD adds the 100 PLUs, 16 function symbols on the display, RS232 output as standard —optional on the BCP— and connection to an auxiliary platform for dual-scale operation.

Can the count result be printed?

Yes. The RS232 output comes as standard and sends the data in printer or PC format, so the count can be recorded on a ticket or transferred directly to a spreadsheet. It avoids transcribing figures by hand, which is where errors usually appear in long stocktakes.

What size of auxiliary platform is suitable?

It depends on the load you are going to count: the platform must take the total weight of the full box or container and offer enough surface to support it without overhanging. Tell us what you are going to count and we will propose the right combination of capacity and dimensions.

What maintenance does it need?

Keep it level with the spirit level and adjustable feet, clean the pan without wetting the electronics —protection is IP44— and periodically check the adjustment with test weights. In high-resolution equipment, that periodic check is what ensures the count remains reliable.
