Description

The BCP counting scale is the high-resolution version of the range: 60,000 internal divisions and aluminium load cell, with three 6-digit, 20 mm backlit LCD displays for total weight, piece weight and number of pieces. 300 x 230 mm stainless steel pan, ABS housing and IP44 protection.

What it is for

Internal resolution is what decides how far a counting scale can work with light items. By doubling the internal steps compared with a standard model, the BCP distinguishes smaller piece weights and keeps the count reliable when the piece weighs only a few grams.

Approval and metrological verification

Internal resolution should not be confused with verification division. The 60,000 internal divisions of the BCP are steps used by the electronics to calculate the piece weight more finely; they are not equivalent to the legal divisions of a verified instrument.

The BCP is intended for internal control of stock and processes, a use for which mandatory periodic verification does not apply. If the scale is used to determine the amount of a sale, the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016 require an approved and verified instrument, with periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body and re-verification after any repair that affects measurement.

Frequently asked questions

What do I gain with 60,000 internal divisions?

Precision when calculating the piece weight. In a counting scale, counting error comes from misjudging what one unit weighs; the finer the internal step, the better that value is captured and the more reliable the quantity shown, especially with pieces weighing just a few grams.

What does the aluminium load cell provide?

It is the usual type of cell in precision bench scales: it offers good response at small and medium capacities and good thermal stability within the unit’s operating range. Together with internal resolution, it is what underpins the reliability of counting light pieces.

How many pieces should be used as a sample?

The more, the better: a larger sample averages out the differences between units and reduces error. As a practical rule, the sample should weigh enough for the scale to resolve it comfortably. If the pieces vary a lot from one another, counting by weight will always have a margin.

Can the result be sent to a computer?

Yes, by adding the optional RS232 output, which sends the data in printer or PC format. It lets you print the count on a ticket or transfer it to a spreadsheet without typing figures by hand, which reduces transcription errors in long stocktakes.

What is the difference between the BCP and the BCD?

Both share high resolution and an aluminium load cell. The BCD adds 100 PLUs with description, weight, units and tare, 16 function symbols and the option of connecting an auxiliary platform for dual-scale operation, as well as including RS232 output as standard.

Where should it be installed?

On a firm, level table, using the spirit level and adjustable feet, and away from draughts and machinery vibrations. In high-resolution equipment those influences are more noticeable than in a conventional scale, because the reading step is finer.
