Description

The MTX weighing platform is a four load cell floor scale valid for legal metrology, with black enamelled steel structure and 4.5 mm checker top plate. It has OIML R-60 C3 steel load cells with IP66 protection, an ABS junction box also rated IP66 and height-adjustable feet. Above-floor installation.

What it is for

It is the floor scale for dry, heavy-duty work areas: warehouses, covered loading docks and workshops. The checker plate provides grip when stepping on it and when moving loads over it, and the black enamel withstands the constant rubbing of pallets and pallet trucks much better than conventional paint.

Legal metrology and periodic verification

The MTX is valid for legal metrology and its load cells have an OIML R-60 class C3 test certificate. This is the fundamental difference from an internal-use platform: only an approved instrument can be verified and therefore used when the weight determines the amount of a transaction.

That verification is carried out on the installed assembly —platform, load cells and indicator— and is governed by the Spanish Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016: verification before being put into service, periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body and re-verification after any repair that affects measurement.

We offer pairing of the platform with the indicator, programming of the assembly and commissioning with calibration at the final location —the only place where calibration is valid— as a service, as well as handling verification when the use requires it.

Frequently asked questions

Why a checker plate and not a smooth one?

Because the raised pattern of the checker plate provides grip: it prevents slipping when stepping on it and stops pallets sliding when set down. In exchange, it retains more dirt than a smooth plate, so it is preferred in dry areas. In rooms with wet cleaning, a stainless steel platform with a smooth plate is better.

What IP66 protection do the load cells have?

IP66 means complete dust-tightness and resistance to powerful water jets. It is a sufficient rating for warehouses, covered loading docks and workshops, even with occasional floor sluicing. For systematic washing or immersion, it is advisable to move up to IP68 or IP69k load cells.

Does it need civil works?

No. The MTX is designed for above-floor installation, i.e. resting on the existing floor. It is the quickest option to get up and running and allows the scale to be relocated if the layout of the building changes. Access ramps are usually added for loading with a pallet truck.

What is the difference between the MTX and the MMX?

They are very similar in construction, but the MTX is valid for legal metrology and has load cells with an OIML R-60 C3 certificate, while the MMX is declared for internal use and has nickel-plated steel load cells. If the weighing has commercial effects, the choice is the MTX.

Where is the junction box placed?

The junction box gathers the signals from the four load cells and sends them to the indicator through a single cable. On the MTX it is made of ABS with IP66 protection. It should be placed where it is accessible to the technical service and protected from forklift traffic, which is the usual cause of broken cables.

How often does it need to be calibrated?

If the instrument is subject to metrological control, periodic verification is every two years and is carried out by a Control Body. Aside from that obligation, for heavily used floor scales an annual check with test weights is advisable to detect drifts before they affect work.
