Description

The 40 x 40 cm INOX/ALUM weighing platform combines a stainless steel frame and pan with a protected aluminium load cell, in 60 or 150 kg capacities. It is the balanced choice for production rooms, handling rooms and food stores: a stainless finish where the product touches, at a lower cost than the stainless load cell version.

What a weighing platform is, and what else you need

A weighing platform is the mechanical part of the scale: the pan the load sits on, the frame that holds it and the load cell that turns weight into an electrical signal. On its own it displays nothing. To have a complete scale you add a weighing indicator, which interprets the signal, shows it on screen and sends it to a printer or a computer if required.

That modularity is exactly the advantage. Platform and indicator are chosen separately to suit the job: the same 40 x 40 platform can carry a basic benchtop indicator or an industrial stainless one with control outputs, and the indicator can be replaced without changing the mechanics.

The 40 x 40 cm format is a room-sized pan: enough for cases, trays, small crates, sacks and loads that can be handled by hand, yet compact enough to fit on a work bench or a fixed station without eating into walkway space.

  • Production rooms: weighing batches on a bench-mounted platform.
  • Handling rooms: cases and trays checked in and out.
  • Packing areas: a platform paired with a control indicator.
  • Refrigerated stores: a stainless pan in a damp environment.
  • Goods-in: the 150 kg version for larger loads.

Protected aluminium load cell: when it is the right choice

The load cell is the part that decides how long a platform lasts in a damp environment, and there are two routes. This version carries a protected aluminium cell: the sensor is encapsulated with a protection that isolates it from ambient humidity and from the normal splashes of work.

It is the right choice where the environment is damp but cleaning does not mean directing water at the scale: production rooms, handling rooms, packing areas, refrigerated stores, cutting rooms cleaned with a cloth and a mop. In those conditions a protected aluminium cell performs perfectly well and keeps the budget in check without compromising the part that touches the food, which is still stainless steel.

If the routine is hosing down over the equipment, or the work involves brines and corrosive agents, the correct option is the INOX/INOX version with a stainless load cell.

What the supply includes

  • 40 x 40 cm weighing platform with stainless steel frame and pan.
  • Protected aluminium load cell in the chosen capacity, 60 or 150 kg.

The weighing indicator is not included and is ordered separately, as are EC verification and the ENAC certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Does the platform include an indicator?

No. A weighing platform is the mechanical part: pan, frame and load cell. To read the weight you add an indicator, chosen separately according to the functions you need: plain reading, piece counting, weight control, printing or communication outputs.

What is the difference between a protected aluminium cell and a stainless one?

The protected aluminium cell is encapsulated and withstands ambient humidity and splashes; the stainless cell is built for direct water and corrosive environments. The first is the logical option in rooms cleaned with a cloth; the second where a hose is used or brine is present.

Should I take the 60 or the 150 kg?

The general advice is to take the lowest capacity that comfortably covers your usual maximum weighing, because a lower capacity comes with a finer reading division. The 60 kg suits handling and packing; the 150 kg suits goods-in and larger loads.

What fits on a 40 x 40 cm pan?

Standard plastic cases, trays, sacks, small crates and loads that can be handled by hand. It matters that the load does not overhang the pan: weight hanging over the edge spreads the force badly across the cell and gives unstable or biased readings.

Can it be installed on a work bench?

Yes, that is one of its usual uses, provided the surface is firm and level. A platform sitting on a bench that flexes or rocks transmits that movement to the cell and the reading will not settle; seating it correctly matters as much as the quality of the equipment.

Can I use it to sell by weight?

Only if the complete assembly, platform, cell and indicator, is trade approved. The platform accepts optional EC verification, but it has to be ordered and built as an approved instrument, and then kept up with the periodic reverification the rules require.
