Description

The 2330 mm bone band saw blade is made from laminated carbon steel with a special pearled tooth rated for double life. It matches cutting-room saws taking a 2330 mm band and passes through bone with a clean cut and no residue. Supplied in a box of four blades.

What a 2330 mm bone blade is used for

This is the bone version for the largest machines in the range. In a cutting room, bone work includes primary cutting of carcasses and quarters: the operation that asks most of the band and that most determines the throughput of the whole line.

Lifting aids and when to ask for a second pair of hands

The risk on a cutting-room saw is not only the cut: it is handling the piece. Quarters and carcasses weigh enough that a badly planned movement can cause a back injury or leave someone off balance in front of a running blade.

That is why these machines come with tables, carriages and guides that form part of the protective measures envisaged by Directive 2006/42/EC. The working procedure should say explicitly when lifting equipment is used and when a piece is a two-person job, rather than leaving it to whoever is on the saw to decide under time pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Can a whole quarter be cut?

That depends on the machine’s cutting height, which in this bracket is usually sufficient. What always has to be solved is how the piece is positioned and held before the machine is started.

Is lifting equipment needed?

With very heavy pieces, yes. Handling them by hand repeatedly is a common cause of injury and, on top of that, raises the risk of losing balance next to the band.

Does one person always work alone?

One operator makes the cut, but positioning large pieces may take two. The working procedure should state explicitly when that is required.

How is cleaning organised on these machines?

As a task with allocated time at the end of the shift, with the band removed and access to housings and trays. At high volume, with intermediate cleans between batches as well.

Is band consumption much higher?

Yes, in proportion to the volume processed. In a cutting room the band is best treated as a planned consumable, with a change interval and enough spare stock.
