BMGI Stainless Steel Scale

Description

The BMGI scale is a single load cell platform entirely in AISI 304 stainless steel, valid for legal metrology, with a stainless steel load cell certified to OIML R-60 C3 and a GI400i indicator, also stainless, with IP65 protection. Approved for 6,000 divisions OIML class III and IV, with two RS232 outputs as standard and a spirit level on the structure.

What it is for

It is the scale for the room where two requirements that usually go separately coexist: strict hygiene and commercial validity of the weighing. Everything that can be seen and cleaned is AISI 304 stainless steel —pan, structure and display housing—, and the assembly can be verified for selling by weight.

• Cutting room: weighing tubs and trays with commercial value, in an area cleaned daily.
• Butcher’s and delicatessen: selling by weight at the counter with an instrument suitable for regulated use.
• Food industry: checking incoming and outgoing goods with accumulation and totalising per batch.

Functions: automatic or manual weight accumulation, on-screen totalising, gross/net, tare and manual preset tare, zero reset, piece counting, checkweighing with target weight setting and 1/10 verification division function displayed for a few seconds.

Legal metrology and periodic verification

The BMGI is valid for legal metrology: its load cell has an OIML R-60 class C3 test certificate and the GI400i indicator is approved for 6,000 divisions OIML class III and IV, with CE certification. It can therefore be integrated into an instrument intended to determine the amount of a transaction.

In Spain that use is regulated by Metrology Law 32/2014 and Royal Decree 244/2016: verification before being put into service, periodic verification every two years by an authorised Control Body and re-verification after a repair that affects measurement or a broken seal. We handle that verification as a service.

Frequently asked questions

What is AISI 304 stainless steel and why does it matter?

It is the most widespread grade of stainless steel in food equipment, due to its corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. The assembly being AISI 304 means that pan, structure and display housing withstand daily cleaning with detergents without rusting or losing their finish.

Why does the protection change with platform size?

Because the load cell fitted to each size is not the same. Platforms up to 300 x 300 mm have an IP66 load cell, dust-tight and resistant to water jets; from 400 x 300 mm the load cell is IP67, which adds resistance to temporary immersion.

What is the spirit level on the structure for?

To check at a glance that the scale is properly seated. A tilted platform distributes the load unevenly and gives different readings depending on where the product rests, an error that cannot be corrected by recalibrating: it must be solved with the adjustable feet before you start weighing.

What is the difference between single range, multi-range and multi-interval?

Single range uses one reading step across the entire capacity. Multi-range and multi-interval divide the capacity into sections with different resolution, so that low weights are read in more detail. The BMGI comes in single range as standard; the other modes are configured on request.

What are the two RS232 outputs for?

To work with two destinations at once without switching cables: for example, a ticket printer and a management computer. The paper receipt and the computer record are thus generated in the same operation, without typing figures by hand.

What is the 1/10 verification division function?

It shows the weight for a few seconds with a resolution ten times higher than the legal one. It is used for internal checks and adjustments, not for transactions: in a sale, the valid figure is always the one corresponding to the instrument’s verification division.
