Description

The Godex T20 label rewinder takes labels up to 177 mm wide, runs at 300 mm/s, has a winding direction selector and an adapter for 1″, 1.5″ and 3″ cores, handling rolls up to 150 mm in diameter.

What a wide-format label rewinder is used for

This is the wide-format rewinder: the one you put behind a printer when the labels are wider than a normal desktop format. At 177 mm of usable width it covers case labelling, pallet labels and large traceability labels — exactly the ones that behave worst if they are left to drop loose out of the printer.

  • Food processing: large-format traceability labels.
  • Warehousing and logistics: case and pallet labelling.
  • Despatch areas: runs of delivery-note and destination labels.
  • Back rooms with batch production: large batch and date labels.
  • Stations with a wide-web printer: unattended printing.

Wide labels change the rules

Past a certain width a label stops behaving like a strip and starts behaving like a sheet: it weighs more, it curls as it leaves the printer, and unless it is taken up under even tension and properly centred it sticks to itself or creases down one edge. A wide-format rewinder holds tension evenly across the full width, which is what stops the finished roll from winding out of line.

That large format is also where the most information-heavy labels live: on products of animal origin, the identification mark required by Regulation (EC) No 853/2004, plus the batch data that makes the traceability obligation of Article 18 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 workable. A badly wound case label is a label that goes on crooked or does not go on at all, and either way the problem ends up being traceability rather than appearance.

Frequently asked questions

T20 or T10?

The T20 takes wider labels — 177 mm against 120 mm — but works with rolls up to 150 mm in diameter, whereas the T10 goes to 200 mm. If label width is your priority, take the T20; if it is long runs on big rolls, take the T10.

Do I need a wide-web printer?

The rewinder partners the printer, it does not replace it: its 177 mm capacity is only usable if the printer prints to that width. Tell us your printer model and we will confirm which rewinder suits it.

Can it handle large-core rolls?

Yes, it includes an adapter for 1″, 1.5″ and 3″, the three common core diameters. On wide labels the 3″ core is fairly standard, so that adapter gets used more than you might expect.

How should it be positioned relative to the printer?

In line with the label exit and far enough away for the web to arrive without sideways tension. If the rewinder sits off the exit axis, the roll builds up out of line and the last turns drift across.

Can it be used as an unwinder?

The winding direction selector lets you choose the wind direction, which determines whether labels end up face in or face out. For use as an unwinder, the specific configuration needs confirming — send us your case and we will check.
